Job Description Purpose of RoleThe Learning Support Lead is responsible for the leadership, management, and coordination of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision within Tenby International Secondary School. The role includes ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, monitoring progress, and promoting an inclusive school culture where all students, regardless of their needs, are fully included in the school community. This role involves ensuring that students with SEND receive high-quality, tailored support to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Learning Support Lead works closely with staff, parents, external professionals, the EAL and Multilingualism Lead, pastoral team, and other stakeholders to create and implement individualized learning plans, ensuring that each student's specific needs are met through effective teaching, intervention strategies, and ongoing support.
The Learning Support Lead will have teaching time with SEND students and EAL classes as part of the broader TLC timetable.
The Learning Support Lead will report directly to the Senior Leadership Team

ISP Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibility 1: Leadership and Management of SEND Provision - Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the school's SEND strategy, policies, and practices in alignment with school and regulatory standards. Set up and maintain the school SEND register and integrate appropriate data across school digital systems so that it is easily accessible for teaching staff.
- Coordinate and manage SEND resources to ensure tailored and effective support for SEND students across the school.
- Identify and assess students' individual needs, creating personalized learning plans, and ensuring students have access to high-quality support.
Key Responsibility 2: Collaboration and Coordination - Work in close collaboration with the Head of The Learning Centre to ensure cohesive support for students with SEND and EAL requirements.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, Heads of Year, and external agencies, ensuring that they are well-informed and involved in a child's support and progress.
- Serve as a liaison with teachers, offering guidance on differentiation strategies and sharing best practices to support students with SEND within mainstream classes.
Key Responsibility 3: Teaching and Curriculum Support - Plan and deliver targeted learning sessions for SEND students, focusing on individual needs and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Lead EAL classes as part of the TLC timetable, delivering differentiated lessons to meet the diverse linguistic and educational needs of EAL students.
- Conduct regular assessments of SEND and EAL students, tracking and reporting on their progress and making data-driven adjustments to their support plans.
Key Responsibility 4: Professional Development and Compliance - Keep abreast of educational trends, policies, and best practices in SEND and inclusive education, attending relevant training sessions and contributing to the professional development of staff.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to SEND provision.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or related field (required); additional qualifications in SEND and/or EAL preferred.
- Experience working with SEND students in a school setting and familiarity with effective inclusion strategies.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working with staff, parents, and external partners.
