To build on this success and further extend its impact across the school, we are now seeking to appoint a Deputy SENCO.
Contract Hours: 36 hours per week / term-time only plus 5 INSET days .
Salary: Scale P01 -£33,639 to £35,723 actual term-time salary.
Reporting to: Assistant Headteacher-SENCO.
Supervision: LSAs and Instructors, as delegated by the SENDCO task management of teaching staff in the Bridge.
Interviews: Week Commencing 20th April 2026.

Purpose of the role:
- Supporting the SENCO in delivering high-quality provision for students with Special Educational Needs, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum, make good progress, and receive appropriate support and intervention.
- Supporting and advising staff on how we can best meet the needs of pupils with SEMH.
- Supporting to remove the stigmas sometimes associated with students' Special Educational Needs.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Working with students
- Teaching small groups of students who are primarily educated in the Bridge.
- Supporting students with Special Educational Needs who are educated in the mainstream through a range of methods.
- Lead staff to ensure effective delivery of targeted support for students with SEND.
- Promoting inclusion and emotional well-being for students with SEND.
- Contribute to curriculum development in the Bridge.
2. Working with systems
- Deputising for the SENCO when required.
- Day to day operational work in the Bridge.
- Conducting Annual Reviews and completing statutory documentation.
- Maintaining records of interventions and meetings.
- To effectively use Arbor to analyse student's pastoral and academic progress and lead intervention where necessary.
3. Working with staff
- To lead CPD opportunities for staff members.
- To liaise with individual teachers, departments and faculties in relation to how we can best support students with SEND.
- Working closely with all members of the Bridge team and leading the team in the SENCOs absence.
- To liaise with outside agencies regarding specific students with SEND.
- To collaborate with different subject areas to support the development of an inclusive curriculum.
4. Working with Families
- To form strong relationships with parents and carers of students with SEND, particularly those whose children are educated in the Bridge.
- Liaising with students and families to ensure their views and needs are represented in planning and provision.
5. Data Protection
- Be aware of your responsibilities under the Data Protection Act whilst carrying out your duties
6. General Administrative Support
- Facilitate and organise any visits from outside agencies, ensuring room bookings, visitor requests, timetabling, student and staff communication, etc.
7. Additional duties
- To work within the framework of the school ethos, adhering to expectations at all times.
- To maintain high standards of professional behaviour and presentation.
- To take responsibility for Health and Safety in the post holder's area of work.
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade which may be required from time to time.
- All staff are expected to take part in necessary training and staff development.
- To cover lunch duties.
