We are looking for new governors to support our academies.
Our governors work closely with their academies to support the Trust’s goal of broadening the horizons of young people through a world-class education, equipping our students with the skills and experiences to become their confident, academic best, no matter what.
The Trust is a not-for-profit Multi-Academy Trust that runs a growing network of primary and secondary academies in Scarborough, Bridlington, Hull, Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Northampton, Daventry, and London. DRET academies serve over 14,000 students, and their families.
It is our mission to broaden the horizons of young people through a world-class education, equipping our pupils with the skills and experiences to become their confident, academic best, no matter what. We are determined to become the Trust that makes the biggest difference and to be the most effective network of academies.
Our governors play a hugely important role in supporting and challenging our Principals to ensure that every pupil is given the best education, opportunities and experiences possible. They work as a team overseeing the work of the academy, acting as ‘critical friend’ to the Principal and holding the academy to account for performance and development.
To maximise the ability of our governors to focus on this key area, the Academy Scrutiny Committee is not required to set strategy or policy, manage financial resources, staff performance and pay, health and safety or many of the other areas traditionally associated with a local authority maintained school governing body as these issues are dealt with at Trust level.
We seek to recruit people who can bring experience and leadership to support and challenge our academies. We offer training and support to help governors fulfil their role successfully.
It is important to have governors reflective (but not necessarily representatives) of the community a academy serves. Diversity can help with better scrutiny and decision making in the interests of pupils. We welcome governors from a diverse range of backgrounds, skills and experience to join our team.
If you have an interest in, and commitment to, improving education and would like to make a difference within your community, please register your interest in becoming a governor by completing our Governor Application Form.
