internal applications for the role of
Lead Science Technician (Health & Safety and Compliance).
This role will provide essential oversight and coordination across our science laboratories, ensuring full compliance with
CLEAPSS,
COSHH, and wider health and safety regulations. The postholder will support technicians and teaching staff in maintaining safe, well‑organised, and fully compliant laboratory environments, while also overseeing key processes such as chemical inventories, equipment servicing, risk assessments, PAG visits, practical endorsements, and annual safety reviews.
Key elements of the role include:- Line management of up to three science technicians
- Oversight of health and safety protocols and mandatory compliance
- Monitoring and maintaining chemical and equipment inventories
- Coordinating risk assessments and ensuring consistent laboratory practice
- Liaising with estates, CLEAPSS, and awarding bodies
- Supporting IQA activities for practical qualifications
- Providing guidance, induction, and ongoing training for staff
- Ensuring safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials
This is an excellent development opportunity for an experienced science technician who is confident in leading health and safety practice, coordinating technical operations, and supporting staff across multiple science disciplines. The successful candidate will also be required to spend time at Stroud at least once per week.
