City Junior School is an independent co-educational school for children aged 7-11 located in Gray's Inn. We are the junior school of City of London School and City of London School for Girls, and part of the Corporation of Londons Family of Schools.
Music plays a prominent role at CJS, shaped by our music for all ethos and a vibrant culture of singing and performance. Our choral programme is a significant strength, and we are proud that Grays Inn Singers recently won the Grand Prize for Musical Excellence at Barnardos National Choir Competition. They will perform as finalists at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in July.
CJS has a team of 20 Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs), and pupils take part in fourteen choirs and ensembles that rehearse each week, forming the backbone of a lively and inclusive musical community.
City Junior School is looking to appoint a part-time (0.6 FTE) Music Teacher to lead curriculum-based singing across Key Stage 2 and to direct our four school choirs. Working closely with the Head of Music and Performing Arts, the successful candidate will play a leading role in developing pupils vocal skills, musicianship and confidence, while shaping a joyful and aspirational singing culture across the school.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a flourishing department. The successful candidate will work with committed colleagues and enthusiastic pupils, with the opportunity to shape repertoire and develop a choral programme that balances inclusion with high expectations.
At CJS, we believe that staff learning is as important as pupil learning, and we committed to supporting the professional development of all our staff. Staff also benefit from annual season ticket loans, cycle loans, shopping discounts and reductions on ticket prices at the Barbican.
