DEPUTY RECTOR
Required for August 2026
Due to the promotion of the current incumbent to headship, we invite applications for the post of Deputy Rector at Kelvinside Academy, a leading independent, HMC co-educational day school of around 600 pupils aged 3-18 years situated in the West End of Glasgow.
The School aims to bring out the best in every pupil, combining high standards of teaching and a superb co-curricular programme within an inclusive and caring ethos. Sport, outdoor pursuits, music, drama and art flourish, together with a range of clubs. There is strong participation in the Combined Cadet Force and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
This is a significant school leadership post which carries responsibility for the day to day running of the Senior School; it will be an ideal role for someone looking to go on to headship. The successful candidate will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of pastoral care and guidance issues, or academic leadership. We seek a person with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills who can foster trust and respect among staff, pupils and parents. Most of all, we seek someone who is passionate about educational improvement and dedicated to serving the young people at Kelvinside Academy.
Salary will reflect the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. An application pack, including further details of the post and an application form, is available from the School’s website.
A completed application form and letter of application should be sent to the Rector, Mr D J Wyatt, by 5.00pm on Wednesday 11 February 2026.
In the first instance, please contact the Rector if you have questions about the post by email at rector@kelvinside.org or by telephone on 0141 357 3376.
First round of interviews will take place on Tuesday 24 February 2026, with second stage interviews taking place the following week on Tuesday 3 March 2026.
Applicants should be registered or eligible for registration with the GTCS; the successful candidate will undertake a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland.
