Gosford Hill school is a thriving secondary school with just over 800 students aged 11-18. The counselling service is accessible to all students, who might either self-refer or are referred by pastoral staff.- Work will include experience of both long- and short-term work.
- The counselling service is part of a larger pastoral team, and part of your role may involve liaising with other pastoral staff, including heads of year, welfare manager, safeguarding leads and school nurse.
- Counsellors on placement will report and are managed by the Counselling Lead. Supervision will be provided fortnightly in the form of both group and one-to-one supervision.
- Placements are term time only and would usually run for at least one academic year.
- You would need to be available for a minimum of three hours, one day per week either on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, offering one-to-one counselling. Fully qualified counsellors looking to gain experience working in a school setting will also be able to work on a Thursday or Friday.
- Experience of working with or knowledge of young people is preferred.
