Assistant Cook
Contract term: Permanent, Term-time only.
Contract type: Working 5 days/30 hours per week. The working hours are 08:30-14:30.
Start Date: As soon as possible (with satisfactory pre-employment checks)
Salary: The salary is Grade 4, Points 7-11 (£26,403-£28,142 FTE), starting on Point 7, with a pro rata starting salary of £18,967.
This is a great opportunity to come and work in our very highly rated secondary school in central Manchester. Our busy in-house Catering Team is looking for an experienced Assistant Cook to join them and help with the preparation and cooking of healthy and nutritious meals for our large student population. The postholder will provide an effective and efficient service, carrying out tasks as instructed by the Catering Manager and Cook and taking on some supervision of the Catering Assistants.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU:
• A Level 2 Award in Food Preparation and Cooking and in Food Safety in Catering;
• Experience of catering in large quantities to high standards in an education setting or similar;
• Qualifications showing a good standard of basic literacy and numeracy;
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm under pressure;
• Good communication and written skills are vital for this role;
• Knowledge of safe working practices, Health & Safety legislation & COSHH regulations;
• Well organised and professional with a flexible and positive approach to all aspects and areas of your work;
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, responding to tight deadlines, prioritising work and collaborating with colleagues to achieve goals within timescales;
• Good numeracy and literacy skills, at least equivalent to RQF Level 2, with excellent IT skills;
• Supportive of the school's excellent staff attendance and punctuality record.
