Science Technician

Location: Ark Alexandra Academy,Hastings, East Sussex
Salary: Ark Support Scale 5, Pay Points 5 - 12: £24,790 - £27,711 (pro rata)
Actual salary: £21,870.31 - £24,447.29
Hours: 36 hours per week, term time only plus 1 extra week (40 weeks per year)
Contract: Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to join and support our successful and committed Science department who offer a combined program to all students and triple science to the most able.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, dependable and conscientious person to join our technician team. As a Science Technician, the successful candidate will support our teachers in delivering high quality practical work and maintain excellent standards of health and safety in all areas of the department across both of our campuses.
Our standards are high, and we need someone who can be a team player and flexible when supporting other colleagues with the ability to be resilient, calm and professional under pressure.

As the ideal candidate you:
- Will have experience, knowledge or a keen interest in a Science related field
- Can be flexible, enthusiastic, well organised, adaptable with an eye for detail
- Will have knowledge of COSHH procedures and CLEAPSS or Health & Safety involving hazardous substances
- Will be able to deal with minor incidents including first aid and undertake training
- Will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with young people and adults
